Adrian’s POV
While my teachers drone on about assignments due next week and remind us to enjoy our weekend, I can't help but stare outside, wondering if Aelios is thinking about me. I sighed, my thoughts drifting back to last night’s intimate moments—ones that I will cherish forever. Aelios shared his dark past and his inner demons, and to be honest, I was scared. Scared of the killer hiding beneath the boy I loved. Yet, looking into his sad, guilty eyes, I could see the inner pain he felt for the acts of cruelty he committed. He had no choice; he lived in a world where being soft could get him killed.
Worst of all, I caught a glimpse of Aelios’s creator—Theron. God, I hate that bastard! I could see the fear in Aelios’s eyes when he confronted the image of his master. I don’t care about Aelios’s past sins; none of that matters. What matters is that he’s changed now, and I love him. I love him so much that even the darkness of his past doesn’t dim my feelings for him.
He just needs to know that he’s not alone anymore. I am here for him until the end. Whatever happens, I won’t leave him. He needs me just as much as I need him. We’re soulmates; I know it. People might say I’m too young or question how I can be so sure. My answer is simple: I just know. I can feel it. Every time I touch Aelios—whether it’s a kiss or a hug—I can feel him melt in my arms. Even when we have to be less intimate, it doesn’t change the fact that he feels alive with me, and I feel the same way.
I miss my little vampire.
The day breezed by, and soon it was time for our long break. As usual, I went with Ethan, and we found our spot on a large bench under a tree that provided shade. As we sat down and ate our sandwiches Ethan gave me a playful nudge.
“ So…what happened? I know, Aelios left with you,” he winked at me.
I, on the other hand, smacked him lightly on the head.
“ Dude, we just kissed alright?!”
“ Sure…” Ethan teased and dodged my latest attack as he jumped away and laughed at my annoyed look.
“ Seriously though… Adrian, are you and that vampire boy legit?” Ethan asks with genuine care in his voice as he looks at me gently.
I looked down at my sandwich and thought about it deeply before giving my answer. I mean…. We did kiss and then some… and I did give him a pet name. With a soft sigh, I looked at Ethan calmly and contentedly. “ Yes… we’re legit…and well… I love him, Ethan. More than anything on this earth. And it excites me.” I confessed with a slight grin.
“ Yeah…. I’m sure banging an ancient vampire excites one’s loins!” Ethan jokes in a fake British accent.
“ Will you ever be serious?!” I groaned as I took one last bite of my sandwich.
“ Nah, I know you love me too! Anyway, have you asked him out for a real date? “ Ethan asked
I almost choked on my sandwich when he asked me that question. As I swallowed my sandwich I turned to look at Ethan’s snickering face as it dawned on me that I forgot to ask Aelios if he wanted a date! I mean we’re gonna meet again but… you know the concept of dating is like the milestone in a relationship…. I think…dammit how the hell did I forget!
“ Oh my God you haven’t asked him yet didn’t you?!” Ethan smirked as I felt my face grow warm from embarrassment.
“ Shut it, Ethan….” I groaned as I rubbed my face trying to think of a plan on how to ask a centuries-old vampire on a damn date!
“ This is comedic gold, you mean to tell me that you’ve been smooching your vampire boyfriend and declaring that you love him yet you forgot to ask him out!” Ethan laughed as I made an embarrassed groan at how stupid I was at forgetting about that.
Okay calm down Adrian I'm sure that we can think of something…. Ummm what does a centuries-old vampire like to do? Well, he is usually quiet…but then again he can sing too. Maybe a dinner date, wait… shit he can't eat food and I don't even know if garlic can kill him. I don't want to kill my first-ever boyfriend during our first date!
“ Dude, why not take him out to the carnival that’s still in town?” Ethan points out.
“ Wait what about those vampires running around the town isn’t there a curfew?” I point out.
“ There is but there are lots of cops there and knowing how horror monsters work I don’t think that they're that stupid to attack a crowded area. Besides, remember Aelios told us not to tell meaning to say that they have a code of secrecy!” Ethan excitedly states.
“ Ethan this is no movie… remember people died !” I scolded him but he just kept on smirking.
“ Yeah that’s before dating a centuries-old vampire, who knows maybe he’s their boss or some kind of ancient elder, I mean remember how those vampire assholes who chased us were scared shitless when they saw Aelios?!” Ethan points out excitedly.
“ Good point…” my nerves calmed down as I realized that Aelios would tear apart any vampire who thinks they can hurt me, that I'm sure.
“ Relax dude he would love it, think about it when was the last time Aelios had a date!” Ethan puts a reassuring arm around my shoulder.
“ Hmmm..” I simply replied, knowing the truth about Aelios’s past. He never had a date for a long long time. Thinking about it, it would be his first date and I want to make sure that my boyfriend will enjoy the night!
The day ended on a high note as I rushed home. It was late in the afternoon and it seemed that everyone was excited for the long weekend. I on the other hand was deep in thought as I planned out the date. I was so deep in thought that as I entered my house, I did not realize that my mother was asking me about my day. I look around startled only to find my mother sitting on the sofa, watching her favorite soap opera. I told her that it was fine and that I needed to go do something. She simply nodded but went back to her show like nothing happened.
Typical mom….
I took a bath and put on the best-smelling deodorant and the best cologne. I wore some semi-casual attire and just paced the room thinking and rehearsing how to ask an ancient vampire out for a date. Should kneel and be all poetic? Or should I do it casually? As time passed, and night came I was surprised to hear a doorbell ring downstairs and my mom answering. Then I felt the familiar chill in my room, it can't be…
“ Adrian, your friend from school is here! What is your name, dear?” I hear my mom ask as I clumsily rush out of my room.
“ It’s Aelios miss.. ” I hear Aelios calmly state.
I rushed down the stairs only to trip at the last step but was caught by Aelios just in time.
“ Careful Adrian… you might hurt yourself,” Aelios says gently. His voice is so soothing and calm that it melts my heart. My heart pounded as Aelios’s breath touched my skin, the closeness making my head spin. I took my first look and was surprised that his eyes were different. Instead of his usual purple eyes, I'm looking at his human… baby blue eyes, his eyes back when he was human. Why did he change his eye color though? Was it to blend in or was it for me? Damn… he looks like some Greek hero, especially with his chaotic short black hair. My mom didn't react since she already left the area to go back to her soap opera, as usual.
Aelios looks at me amused a gentle genuine smile playing on his lips as he helps me stand.
“ What are you doing here?” I ask curiously since we did promise each other to meet at the clearing but here he is now!
“ Well… I just missed you that much..” he states with a cheeky grin.
“ Hey… Aelios… can I ask you something?” I asked the ancient vampire boy who looked at me with curiosity.
“ Sure,” he replied coolly
“ In private…” I state with an emphasis on the word private.
He looks at me all confused which I do admit is kinda cute.
“ Mom we're just gonna hang out I will be back before 10:00 pm!” I called out and pushed Aelios out the door not waiting for my mom to reply and we both went out.
Aelios looked so confused about why I was rushing him out that is until we went out and I closed the door. That's when I gave him a deep kiss, gosh I missed this…
Aelios’s eyes grew big as saucers as I kissed him hard and passionately but he reciprocated the kiss in turn as he calmed down. After a few minutes of trying to disengage the kiss and failing at it, we finally looked at each other lovingly.
“Hahaha wow never imagined you to be this assertive, not complaining though.” Aelios chuckles softly and brushes his hand on my cheek.
I shuddered at his touch and sighed longingly, it's just been a day but for me, it felt like a long time.
“ Nothing I just missed you…. and I want to ask you something?” I fidgeted with my fingers, my voice unsteady as I tried to keep my nerves in check.
He looks at me concerned most likely wondering if there’s something wrong. So I took a deep breath and just let it out.
“ Will you go out with me to the local carnival!”
Aelios looks at me silently his face devoid of emotion, at first I thought I screwed it up but he suddenly has a huge smile on his face and he jumps towards me and hugged me tightly.
“ OF COURSE YES!!!” He excitedly says with so much joy in his voice.
“ Too tight…” I gasped out as I felt him constricting my airflow.
“ Whoops… right sorry!” He sheepishly states as he lets me go.
After letting me go I noticed that he wore some kind of gothic, aristocratic clothing. Aelios wears a fitted black shirt with a high collar paired with slim-tailored trousers. Over this, he dons a red waistcoat adorned with subtle patterns and silver chains adding an air of sophistication. Classic Aelios he always dresses to impress except that one time he was injured. A long, flowing black coat with checkered and moon motifs drapes elegantly. His boots make him look so adorable in my eyes, the boots are a striking red and black, with a modest heel. With my rush, I forgot to just look at how beautiful and perfect my vampire boyfriend is and he is simply breathtaking. Vampire boyfriend…. that’s a nice ring to it.
“ Ummmm Aelios…. will you change your clothes soon? You might draw lots of attention with your outfit.” I pointed out as Aelios looked down in confusion.
“ What do you mean…. can’t humans just appreciate the beauty of the classics?!” Aelios sighs as he snaps his fingers and an all-consuming black fire engulfs him. I panicked at first but calmed down as the flames died down and out came a hoodie-wearing Aelios. His hoodie has the same color scheme as his last outfit, all black and some red inside.
He looks at me with a smile as he twirls around showing off his outfit. “ Better?”
Amused I just smiled at his antics. “ Better!”
As we walked side by side I looked at his eyes curiously wondering if he changed his eye color to blend in more or for something else. Is he wearing contacts? Just as I was about to ask him he suddenly took my hand ever so gently and intertwined his fingers effortlessly.
“ You’re staring, Adrian,” he teased, his voice ever so playful and sweet.
I felt my face heat up but didn’t look away. “ I was just… wondering about your eyes,” I admitted. “I have never seen them like this… you know like the apparition that you showed me… it's beautiful.” I shyly squeaked.
Aelios looked at me quietly at first and then he laughed. He laughed so lightheartedly that it made me laugh too.
“ Of all the things that made you curious it’s my eyes that made you think so deeply.” Aelios mused with a beautiful expression on his face.
I playfully punched his shoulder and that idiot feigned an injury for my amusement! After recovering from our contagious laughter he finally explains why the change of color.
“ It’s to blend in better… I mean if I’m visiting my mate… I mean, my boyfriend’s home and I don’t want to scare off his mother! Besides, I think it would make you feel more comfortable you know without the whole vampire thing.” Aelios laughs a lighthearted laugh.
“ Did you just call me your mate? Dude, I am not a beast!” I laughed and shoved him gently making him giggle.
“ Sorry about that vampires usually say mate instead of boyfriends or girlfriends… it’s a vampire thing!” He tried to explain before I tried smacking him which he dodged effortlessly.
“ That’s cheating!” I argued as he winked and ran away normally, no super speed just him running like a kid. He was laughing his heart out as I chased him down the street.
“ You're insufferable!” I yelled out as I tried catching up.
“ But you still love me, Adrian!” He retorts as he dodges again.
The Oakridge Town Park is the heart of this small town, a place where families gather around and enjoy nature. This is where most of the town’s seasonal activities are held. During the day it was a peaceful retreat, tall oak and pine trees lined the park’s winding pathways their branches swaying gently from the breeze. A small lake sat at the center, its calm waters reflecting the night sky. Tonight though the center of attention is the town’s annual carnival which is located near the edge of the park. Looking at a distance, we can see the tall and circular structure of the Ferris wheel my excitement at the fact that this is happening can be plain to see for everyone. The scent of buttery popcorn and cotton candy filled the cool crisp night air, and the sound of joyous laughter of families filled the air. I stole a glance at Aelios, the ancient vampire looked around his surroundings with a focused look, it seemed that he was scanning the area for any hostile vampires. I touched his hand, and the mere touch calmed Aelios who looked towards me his eyes meeting mine and a soft smile appeared on his face.
“ Relax…Aelios we are on a date no one is crazy enough to attack us, especially since you are here.” I reassured him and squeezed his hand.
“ Sorry old habits die hard my love..” Aelios softly stated as he squeezed my hand ever so gently.
After buying our tickets, we took a stroll through the carnival passing by some brightly lit stalls filled with prizes of varying sizes. I watched as Aelios took it all in—- the flashing lights, the assortment of colors, the rich aromas of carnival food and savory sweets. His usual composed and stoic demeanor changed now it is replaced with child-like wonder and curiosity. His eyes widen as he observes a simple game of Shoot the Ducks, he is fascinated by how a father shot the duck plates and won, his small son eagerly choosing a prize. I touched his arm to bring him back to earth but what I noticed changed everything. Aelios looks at the boy and his father with a very sad look on his face. I cautiously asked him what was wrong.
“ It’s nothing…. let's move somewhere else..” He quietly says as he turns to move towards the food stalls.
“ Alright….” I quietly replied as I guessed as to why his demeanor shifted but never mentioned it. I then felt his fingers intertwine with mine secretly and squeezed it gently for support. As we walk, I notice Aelios glancing back when he thinks that I'm not looking. His gaze lingers on the father and son and for a brief moment, I see the deep, unspoken longing in his eyes. He wishes for something like that—a family, but fate has given him a different path.
To lighten the mood I pointed to a food stall and blurted out, “ Hey, you want a corndog?”
Aelios turned to me, baffled. Then, the realization dawned in his expression, and his lips twitched in amusement. “ You do remember I can’t eat, right?”
I stared at him for a beat before it hit me. Heat rushed to my face as I groaned.
“ Oh…Right..”
For a second we just stood there, and then the snickering started, and then the boisterous laughter. Aelios’s laughter is contagious such a sweet and melodic sound. So full of sweetness and joy. I love his laughter and I love him by God I love him. As we finished laughing Aelios shook his head, an affectionate smile spreading across his face.
“ Someone forgot. But since it's you who’s asking, I’ll grant your wish.” He giggled, all traces of his earlier sadness gone.
I rolled my eyes, smacked his arm gently, and told him that he was obnoxious.
Aelios caught my hand and gently kissed it, I felt the rush of heat on my face and we just gazed at each other before I coughed gently and he released me.
“ Shall we corndog man!” He muses earning him another smack from me.
Aelios seemed to like the corndog a little too much— he asked me to buy more. I took my wallet from my pocket and realized that in my rush to get Aelios out, I forgot to ask Mom for more money! Aelios ever the sneaky bastard noticed my worried look and just smiled before pulling out his money and buying two more corn dogs.
“ Hold on a minute you had money this whole time!” I yelled as my vampire boyfriend ate the corndogs like it was the best thing he had eaten in centuries.
He gave me a look and just swallowed his food before he spoke up.
“ Well you never asked love, I just assumed that you were treating me.” Aelios cheekily smiled earning him another smack which he dodged easily.
Aelios, being the curious cat that he is, buys all the food that he can find and tastes everything. This makes me wonder if he can taste anything since I know in some comics or movies, vampires can't eat.
“ Hey, Aelios… I was wondering..?” I started as we walked past some games. Aelios just finished swallowing his 5th cotton candy. I'm starting to worry if Aelios can get vampire diabetes at this rate.
“ Yeah…? ” he innocently asked as he munched on some buttered popcorn… well his 6th bucket by now.
“ Don’t you find human food disgusting ?” I asked curiously.
“ Not exactly, I just can't taste human food. I have to admit the textures and consistency intrigue me. Especially that sugar cloud!” he exclaims with childlike wonder.
“ You mean cotton candy…” I corrected him.
“Is that what you humans call it… odd it does not taste like cotton…” Aelios looks at me confused at the thought of eating cotton. I had to suppress a giggle as we continued on our stroll.
“ Come one, come all, test your strength and win a prize!” a person yells as he shows off the strength test game. This game involves a person smashing a hammer until a small object hits the bell.
Aelios stops midway intrigued by this contraption. He looks at me with a mischievous grin on his face. Oh no…. Aelios is gonna wreck this game, I looked at him with a begging look. I just hope he does not expose himself to the world because of this stunt. Aelios put on his charm and asked if he could give it a whirl, the man looked at Aelios with a skeptical look, well considering that Aelios looks so delicate and small I might agree with the man but I know what he is.
“ Alright, kid just don’t break your back trying.” The man stated after giving Aelios the hammer and standing beside me as Aelios that the silly boy pretended that the hammer was heavy and dragged it as he positioned himself.
“Your friend’s gonna break his back. That thing's 15, maybe 20 pounds! I only have the heavy hammers left, but he wouldn’t take no for an answer!” The man exclaims as he was scratching his head in wonder and confusion on why such a small boy was asking for the heaviest one.
“ Yeah… he can be very persuasive, say if he wins what could he win?” I wondered as I watched Aelios.
“ Kid if he wins I will give the kid the biggest stuffed toy we got which is that giant cat over there!” The man laughs at how ridiculous this is.
A crowd starts to gather as they watch Aelios, whispering and laughter fill the area but then everyone's jaw drops when Aelios effortlessly smashes the hammer downward, the metal weight shoots up at an alarming speed so fast that when it strikes the bell, and the poor thing also shot up and landed next to Aelios.
The entire crowd went silent.
Then, the cheering and clapping exploded, and a mix of awe and shock filled the crowd. Meanwhile, Aelios just beamed, looking too pleased with himself.
“ Well… sir, I guess he won the first prize then,” I stated and patted the poor man gently as his mind tried to fathom what had just happened! The man blinked and shook his head to check if he was dreaming. He stared at the bell, which was still lying harmlessly by Aelios’s feet. He glanced at the hammer, then at the unassuming boy who had just sent that heavy metal weight sky high like a rocket.
“W..what…how?” the man mumbled incoherently, his mind still processing the whole event.
Aelios, ever the little rascal that he is innocently tilted his head slightly and gave the man a wide bright-eyed smile. “So….about that giant cat?” he asked sweetly, his tone dripping with childlike enthusiasm, although I could still see the mischievous glint in his eyes. He was enjoying this too much and I am trying hard not to laugh at my boyfriend’s antics.
The man blinked again, glancing back at me for confirmation as if hoping I would somehow explain away the impossible. I just shrugged, giving the poor guy a sympathetic look.
The man let out a bewildered chuckle, shaking his head as if to clear it. “ Alright, kid,” he said still clearly confused. “ You earned it, fair and square….somehow.” With a resigned sigh, he walked over to retrieve the enormous black stuffed cat, nearly toppling under its weight as he dragged it over. The thing was almost as big as Aelios himself –probably bigger – and yet when the man handed it over, Aelios took it effortlessly, as if it weighed nothing.
“ For you, Adrian!” Aelios announces happily thrusting the plush toy into my arms. I nearly topple under its sheer size, struggling to hold on to it. Meanwhile, Aelios’s earlier sadness vanished, replaced by his joyous laughter and smile that made my heart swell. Seeing him this happy is worth every second of his goofy antics.
Aelios POV
By the gods how long has it been since I laughed this much or had this much fun? Was it a millennium ago or was it a century ago? It does not matter, this joy is all because of him. Adrian… you don’t know how much it means to me that you invited me for this date. It made all those years of bloodshed and loneliness but a distant memory. Even when my sorrow starts to creep in I can’t help but find your presence comforting. You bring some light into my darkness. I watched my perfect mate struggle to hold on to the black plush cat, his arms barely holding on to the plush. He just looks so adorable!
“ Are you just going to stand there and stare at me with that goofy grin of yours or will you help me!” Adrian Laughs.
“You were so happy with the prize that I didn't have the heart to disturb it.” I sat with a warm smile as I held the left paw of the plush while Adrian held the right paw.
“ Ha ha very funny Aelios..anyway where do you want to go next ?” Adrian asks me softly as he looks to me for suggestions.
I looked around for anything and then I spotted the huge wheel contraption.
“ Hey, how about that one, you know the giant wheel contraption!” I pointed at the big wheel.
“ You mean the Ferris wheel.” Adrian corrects me.
“ Yeah, what you said!” I smirk as Adrian sighs in exasperation.
“ You're impossible!” he laughs.
“ Yeah, but you love me!” I argued back and Adrian stayed silent but I saw his cheeks turning bright pink when I mentioned that he loves me.
I paid for the ride and we both sat inside the cozy, enclosed gondola with large glass windows on all sides. Adrian placed his plush on his left side and moved to my side close and an awkward silence permeated between us.
The ride started and we just sat still waiting to make a move.
“ Adrian… I want to thank you, for everything..” I quietly state as I look at him with so much affection that I cannot fathom how I feel.
“ Why… we're just going on a date,” Adrian states softly as he inches closer to me our arms touching each other. Our warmth was the only thing calming us both but also added tension.
“It’s not just a date for me…” I added quietly as I placed my fingers on top of his hand. Adrian looked down and we both giggled as we intertwined our fingers.
“ You don't know how much this date means to me..” I softly state as I inch my face closer and closer to Adrian.
“Shhh… stop just kiss me already silly.” Adrian muses which made me laugh gently at my mate’s straightforward mindset.
I leaned in closer and closer to his lips, my heart raising as our lips were mere inches away.
Then I felt that unfathomable sense of danger, I focused all my senses then I heard the whizzing sound of a projectile. I instantly pushed Adrian with enough force to avoid an ice spear embedding itself in the wall where Adrian used to be. They grazed my cheek and blood dripped down. That's impossible. I could have sensed someone throwing that but somehow I did not sense anyone.
“ What the hell Aelios what's going on?!” Adrian panics but I kept my cool as I motioned him to stay down. I walked over to the glass canopy where the spear pierced through. Nothing I can't sense anything, this is highly unusual and it unnerved me tremendously. The only people who could evade my detection are…
My eyes grew big with the realization of who could be hunting us. In sheer panic, I turned towards Adrian only to be knocked off my feet as the sound of breaking glass and a painful force hit my shoulder knocking me back towards the wall and taking my breath away.
“ Well…well it's been centuries Aelios, did you miss me!” a voice spoke up, a voice that I would have hoped not to hear again.
“ Kaelen…” I hissed as I stood up recovering from the blow.
Kaelen, my master’s sick and demented creation. He's Theron’s best assassin and executioner. He is physically frozen in the body of a 14-year-old. His silver-white hair glowed against the lights of the Ferris wheel ride. His eyes are still the cold, empty scarlet eyes of a demon who enjoys inflicting pain on others. He wears that fake smile of his very convincingly. He still wears the white priestly robes that he wears ever since he killed that Greek priest in the past and he still goes barefoot.
“ Your senses have dulled brother….where's that killer instinct of yours?” Kaelen asks with a disappointed look on his face.
Then I heard Adrian whimper, my heart dropped when Kaelen looked at where the sound came from.
Kaelen smiles gleefully as he locks his gaze at Adrian.
“ What’s this… a new pet brother or a snack for both of us.” Kaelen licks his lips as his eyes glow even redder. Adrian whimpered even more and he backed away this forced my hand as I finally recovered and tried to punch Kaelen, I winced as Kaelen managed to grab my wrist mid-punch and started to twist it. I gritted my teeth and tried a counter he merely dodged and then we exchanged blows. With each blow and kick I did Kaelen countered it perfectly. Even then, landing a blow won't matter he won’t feel it anyway. This is bad, I can't use my abilities and if I did I might hurt Adrian in the process. All I have to do is push him near the window and kick him off. Sadly as the fight continued my defenses started to fail as I felt a heavy knee on my chest and then a downward elbow hitting the back of my neck knocking me down sprawling on the floor. As I tried to get up Kaelen grabbed the back of my neck and threw me to a window breaking the glass and I felt the warm flow of blood on my face. The compartment rocked and I could hear Adrian desperately pleading to stop this. He called out my name while the compartment swayed dangerously, I tried my best to balance myself only to be hit by a heavy hook by Kaelen.
“ What is this are you holding back?! This is not like you !” Kaelen gleefully taunts as he does multiple quick punches in succession utilizing my imbalance. I tried my best to counter and block but he pulled apart my defenses with ease. In desperation I gave him a heavy headbutt knocking back Kaelen, giving me enough space to give him a powerful push kick that sent him flying off the compartment.
I breathed a sigh of relief, my body aching from the blows as I limped towards a scared Adrian.
“ Aelios, you're hurt!” Adrian panics as I loomed over him.
“ Don’t worry about me… we should get you out argh!” I hiss in pain as an ice spear embedded itself on my shoulder my blood splattering on Adrian who screamed out my name.
“ You think you can get rid of me that easily think again!” Kaelen playfully states as he lifts the spear making me yell out in pain even more as he slams the spear on the wall pinning me.
“ Come on Aelios it's no fun for the game to end that quick, besides I have to report your whereabouts to our master and I don't want that party pooper to ruin my fun!” Kaelen gleefully laughs as he forms another ice spear and impales my right thigh as blood starts to pour rapidly down on the floor.
“That's…. impossible… I killed him…” I hiss out in pain and disbelief.
“ Come now dear brother, do you think Lord Theron the one and only progenitor, would die that easily!” Kaelen smiles.
My mind went blank from the news, all these years he's alive! Despair starts to creep in, all these years of rebellion and leaving behind the past… it's all crashing down now. I don't know how to protect Adrian from any of this. I'm sorry Adrian I doomed you.. this is all my fault…
“ That’s it… Brother, I love that look of yours… the look of despair and utter defeat..” Kaelen states with such euphoric bliss as he forms an ice spear and aims it at my heart. I can't move... I can't think…everything was for nothing…Theron is back and he will hunt me down and I don't know if I can stop him this time…. my last battle with him almost cost me my life.
Kaelen lifted the spear until I heard something that shook me out of my dream-like stupor.
“ Get the fuck away from my boyfriend you asshole!” Adrian yells and then I saw him tackle Kaelen. He looks surprised when he is knocked down. Adrian quickly ran up to me and pulled the spears off as best as he could whispering sorry every time I wince.
“ That was not so nice boy…” Kaelen sighs as he grabs Adrian by the neck. My heart raced in panic as I desperately tried to pull the spears off. Adrian tries his best to fight Kaelen’s grip in sheer panic but the vampire simply yawns and throws Adrian off the compartment. Adrian screams in fear something that will haunt me forever. I growled and yelled in frustration, fear, and anger at the bastard Kaelen. The black flames burned away the spears since Adrian is not here anymore I can go all out. Kaelen realized this a little too late when I blasted him off the compartment.
I then dived after Adrian who was still falling, time stood still for me, my fear of losing him was overwhelming me. But I got to focus, I used the shadows to propel me faster and I reached out towards Adrian’s outstretched hand. My eyes burned with tears and desperation. Then I felt his fingers, I quickly grabbed him and pulled him close as I whispered that I got him and turned my back towards the ground shielding the love of my life from certain death. Then I felt the thundering crack of the ground hitting me knocking my breath away. I could hear people screaming and panicking, most likely from my fire show but I did not care. With my last ounce of energy, I willed the shadows to get Adrian’s plush and teleport both of me and him out of the area before anyone saw us. The shadows swirl around me covering both of us in darkness and teleporting us back to the clearing. I was propped up against a tree, still bleeding and in pain but at least Adrian was safe. I felt movement in my arms as Adrian looked up. His eyes… his beautiful eyes look so scared and concerned as he looks at my injuries. Tears start to fall down his cheeks as he hugs me tightly.
“ It’s okay my love… everything is fine…” I tried to comfort Adrian but he won't have it. I heard him sob and his breathing was erratic.
“ Aelios…. I almost lost you…. I just… I just can't handle that…” Adrian cries out in fear and desperation.
I stayed silent and pulled him closer, my hand rubbing the back of his neck.
“ You won’t lose me, that I promise..” I stated softly.
Adrian pulled away from my embrace and just looked at me tearfully.
“ Don’t you… dare die on me…. You hear me Aelios…!” he demanded me.
“ I won’t… I promise..” I replied and kissed his fingers lovingly.
The shadows swirled next to Adrian and out came the giant black cat plush which Adrian hurriedly hugged.
Meanwhile at the Carnival…
Kaelen growls and curses outside the parking lot, his body still healing from the burns he received from Aelios.
“ Well fought brother…but it does not matter you are here… and master would like to see you again!” Kaelen growls The burns are healing so slowly, it might have been the blood loss and damage from the black flames.
“ Hey, kid are you lost?” a voice calls out from behind Kaelen.
Kaelen smirks as he slowly turns around and feigns injury. A policewoman and an old policeman shine their light on Kaelen.
Kaelen starts to whimper and cry which causes the woman to gasp at how injured Kaelen is. The policewoman rushed towards the poor boy, pulled out her walkie-talkie, and radioed in an ambulance for severe third-degree burns.
“ Shit Daryl, there are some sick bastards out there! Hang on, kid help is on the way!” The policewoman comforts a sniffling Kaelen.
But the old man was not buying it, there was no report of a fire or a missing kid. Something is wrong. Daryl then spots it, the burn wounds are self-healing.
“ Shit Roseline get the fuck away from the kid!” the older officer yells as he draws out his gun and aims at the kid.
“ What the hell Daryl, it's just a kid!” Officer Roseline yells but Daryl does not listen to her at all.
“ Rookie that is no kid… get away from him!” Daryl orders her and cocks his pistol.
“ Maybe you should listen to your partner…” Kaelen muses but before the female officer reacts she gasps in shock as Kaelen plunges his whole hand into her chest and punches it right through. To her horror, she sees her own heart still dripping with blood and beating.
“ FUCK !” The older man fires but Kaelen merely disappears in a mist, laughing as the female officer slumps down on the cement pavement, still twitching and gasping until she lies still blood pooling out of her.
The old officer shakily looks around as he hears Kaelen’s joyful laughter.
“ Come on officer, let's play hide and seek!” Kaelen muses in the air.
“ Shut up you freak and show yourself!” Daryl growls as he looks left and right as rapid movements from left to right cloud his vision until he feels a sharp pain and then the numbing sensation of ice on his lower back is felt.
“ Tag… you're it, little piggy!” Kaelen playfully states and pulls out the older officer’s spine and skull at the same time. His body fell with a heavy thud, Kaelen licked his lips while holding on to the old man’s spinal column. He's gonna drink to his heart's content before he reports to his lord and master Theron.
